Appointments

All consultations are appointments only.

Each appointment will be 10 minutes long unless it is explained to the patient that they will have a reduced time with the Doctor as there are no appointments available and they are being "fitted in".

Emergency appointments will be available throughout each consultation and will be 10 minutes long.

Late evening and early morning appointments are available for people who cannot make normal surgery times.

Medication Information

At Eyam Surgery, medication can be collected from reception between 8.00am and 6.30pm every day. Dispensary is open from 8.30am until 6.30pm. Remember reception can be extremely busy in the morning therefore you may have to wait.

Medication can be collected at Bradwell Surgery between 9.00am and 12.00pm every day, except Tuesday (8.30am-11.30am). It can also be collected during the following times: Thursday 2.30pm - 6.30pm and Friday 4.30pm - 5.00pm. Medication can be collected from The Sir William Hotel, Grindleford 12.00pm -12.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday each week.

In the event of you requiring medication urgently and we are closed then please: If you have a prescription then take it to the nearest pharmacist (a list of late/weekend opening pharmacists are detailed in the local paper). If you have no prescription, then present yourself to the nearest A&E department or ring NHS direct for their advice.

For repeat prescriptions please ring 01433 631628 any day (Monday to Friday) between 10.00am and 12.00pm or 2.00pm and 4.00pm or fax your request to 01433 631832. You can also email us on prescriptions.eyamsurgery@nhs.net, drop the white slip in the post to us at the above address or bring it along to any of the surgeries.

We require a full 48 hours to process the prescription as not all drugs are held in stock. Any orders placed after 4pm will not be ready for 48 hours from the following day. This includes e-mails.

Visits

Please do not ask for a home visit unless the patient is unable to get to the surgery. In particular most children can quite safely be brought to the surgery by car. Please contact Eyam surgery before 10.00am and be prepared to discuss the need for the visit with the receptionist. They are trained to ask specific questions that will assist the Doctor with his/her evaluation of the situation. We cover a large rural area therefore we need to plan our visits according to urgency and location.

Phone Calls

There are designated appointments available in the morning and afternoons with our doctors and nurses. We will give you an approximate time window in which they should call you back, but, please be aware sometimes medical situations occur, which must be dealt with before telephone consultations can be made. Please note your designated clinician will only try and call you twice. Ensure you give the receptionist the most appropriate telephone number the clinician should contact you on.

NHS 111

NHS 111 – If you need medical help fast, but it isn't a 999 emergency, you can now call NHS 111. You can telephone this number during our opening hours as well as when we are closed. NHS 111 will assess you, provide advice and direct you straight away to the local service that can help you best. Calls are free, including calls from mobiles. For more information visit: www.nhs.uk/111.

Late arrival for Appointments

Please be on time for your appointment. Surgeries are usually fully booked, we will try to fit you in during the session however it may be necessary for you to wait until the end of the surgery. It may also be necessary to make a new appointment on a different day.

Out of Hours

If you ring the surgery out of hours (after 6.30pm and before 8.00am weekday and during the weekend), then your call will automatically be put through to Derbyshire Health United. They will advise what you need to do in your circumstances. You may also ring NHS direct or the emergency services.

Test Results

Please telephone Eyam Surgery between 3.00pm and 5.00pm, this gives us the time to process that days post and computer results.
