About Us

Eyam Surgery aims to provide comprehensive patient-centred health care service which is accessible, of high quality and sensitive to local needs.

Eyam Surgery is a rural dispensing practice covering an area of 180 square miles from Edale to Fox House just outside Sheffield to Baslow, Taddington and Peak Forest. The area is set in the Hope Valley with the nearest major town being Chesterfield (15 miles) and the nearest cities Sheffield (15 miles) and Manchester (35 miles).

The main surgery is located at Eyam with branch sites at Bradwell and Grindleford (temporarily closed). Eyam Surgery also utilises the Village Hall at Litton for half an hour a week. For patients who have difficulty reaching the surgery, the practice also uses the community minibus service to bring patients to Eyam.

As well as delivering general medical services to our patients we also provide medical expertise to the psycho geriatric unit and the general practice beds at Newholme Hospital (Bakewell). We also provide occupational health services to local industry.

Apart from employment in the towns and cities the area is predominantly a farming and tourist area. However, there is also a large amount of heavy industry including Blue Circle Cement, Glebe Mines, Fine Grinding, RMC & Stoke Quarries.

The practice comes within the Derbyshire Dales District Council and the population within that area is 71,300.

Eyam Surgery is one of nine practices that make up the North Dales area of the North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). There is a population of 49,141 in the North Dales area which consists of 24,185 males and 24,956 females, with 11,911 being over 65 (44.9% male and 55.1% female) and 5,449 aged over 75 (40% male and 60% female).
